Redeemer Free Reformed Church exists to glorify God by making disciples of Christ who are:
- Grounded in the Holy Scriptures Colossians 3:16
- Living lives pleasing to God 2 Peter 1: 1-7; Colossians 1:9-12
- Serving Christ and each other John 13: 1-17; John 21:15-17; Philippians 2:1-10;
- Equipped for suffering and persecution James 1:2-4; 1 Peter 1:7; 1 Peter 4:12-19
- Prepared to die well, fully assured of the finished work of Christ Colossians 3:4; 1 Peter 1:3-4; Matthew 28:20
Redeemer FRC is a congregation of the Free Reformed Churches of North America (FRCNA) and was planted in 2022 by Grand Rapids FRC. For several years leading up to 2019, Grand Rapids FRC experienced significant growth in membership. The consistory considered enlarging the sanctuary and fellowship area as well as planting a daughter congregation. However, efforts were quickly stalled by the COVID-19 pandemic, and all plans were put on hold. In the spring of 2021, efforts to plant a daughter church resumed and a small group of members began meeting to pray about the work. Over the next several months, a steering committee was formed to guide the process of planting a daughter church. The work of the steering committee eventually culminated with the daughter church holding its first Lord’s Day worship services in the gymnasium of Vanguard Charter Academy on May 29, 2022. Almost exactly one year later, on Saturday, May 27, 2023, Redeemer FRC was instituted as an independent congregation of the FRCNA.
We praise God for His faithfulness to Redeemer FRC over these past years. He has provided a way where there was none, supplied a place to worship, allowed His blessed Word to be preached every Lord’s Day and His holy sacraments administered, and blessed us with His own presence and the fellowship of believers. We pray that God will build us up into Christ our Head, and that Redeemer FRC would be a place where sinners will hear and receive the gospel of our Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Doctrinal Standards:
As a confessional reformed church, Redeemer FRC believes that the doctrines of the 16th century Protestant Reformation accurately summarize the teachings of God’s word. While creeds and confessions do not have the authority of Scripture, they are helpful for grounding churches in its truth. We subscribe to the Heidelberg Catechism, the Belgic Confession of Faith, and the Canons of Dort (collectively the Three Forms of Unity). We also subscribe to the Apostle’s Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed. These resources, along with information on the historical context of each, are available below.
